A PASTORAL COMEDY by ALLAN RAMSAY To which is prefixed a New Biographical Memoir of the Author and a critique of his Writings WITH A PORTRAIT AND TWELVE BEAUTIFUL ENGRAVINGS 1808 FINE HAND PAINTED CLOTH BINDING WITH CLOSURE RIBBONS Published in Edinburgh in 1808 this is a beautifully illustrated early Scottish printing of the authors popular work The Gentle Shepherd set in Scotland, this example is bound in a later cloth binding with hand painted designs to front cover and spine, along with ribbon closure ties threaded through the cloth a larger format measuring over 11.5 inches tall, fitted with floral endpapers, half title page is present CONDITION the cloth binding does have some marking and darkening else in good solid condition, internally the floral endpapers a strained to inner joint of front cover, noticeable heavy offsetting of the plates to opposing pages of text, with some noticeable foxing to some pages, page edges untrimmed else in good general condition A VERY ATTRACTIVELY BOUND EXAMPLE OF THIS EARLY BEAUTIFULLY ILLUSTRATED EDITION
