Book Description
Published for the English Dialect Society by Trubner & Co, London, 1887, 1st edition. Half leather binding with marbled boards. Gilt lettering and decoration to spine. Aem. 8.5ins x 5.5ins, marbled endpapers, xxiv, 194pp. A Kentish dialect poem (Dick and Sal at Canterbury Fair) followed by an alphabetical list of words and expressions. Armorial bookplate of John Tolhurst FSA to front pastedown. Previous owners signature and date to first blank page after the front free endpaper. Also "427.2" written in red ink. "7647" has been stamped to the bottom of the title page. Leather is a little rubbed to the spine, but generally a VG copy.
