Vol. 1 fold-out map frontis., xvi., 371, [3] pp. publisher s adverts at rear. Vol.2, xi, 355pp. Signature of previous owner Thos Tucker(?) 1780 on title page of both volumes; Bookplate of Prinknash Monastery to front flyleaf of both volumes. Boards a little scratched and shoulders cracked, small tear to map repaired with archival tissue, small worm hole to fore endpaper and half-title to Vol. 1; wear to top and tail of both spines and edges, otherwise bright, clean, tight volumes. Brydone was a Scottish author and traveller who toured Sicily and Malta as mentor to William Beckford and others. His travel writing was very popular at the time, earning him membership of the Royal Society. He was also a founder member of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
