Book Description

Herbert Roye was a celebrated photographer active professionally through the 1930s, 1940s & 1950s until his retirement in 1959. Although Roye did not start out as a photographer he set up a portrait studio in Chelsea in 1935. He was later commissioned to produce a series of nudes and his 'art nudes' became the most successful genre for him in his photographic career. They were termed artistic because they borrowed from the roles & presentation of nudes in Western art. His work was also used as propaganda to raise morale both before and during the Second World War. THIS ITEM IS A SCARCE FIND IN A DUST WRAPPER.
