Book Description
Title continues - Together with other pageants, exhibited on occasion of several royal visits to that city; and two specimens of ancient local poetry. [iv], 28, 14 pages. In old paper covered boards with leather spine and corners. The binding has been repaired at some point in the more recent past. Interesting provenance to the front end papers. Ink inscriptions to the front free end paper - To Willm Hamper Esqr from his friend and fellow labourer Tho Sharp Jan 26 1818 - Wm Hamper 1818 Twelve copies only printed - On the decease of Wm Hamper 3 May 1831 this copy reverted to the editor and was by him presented to Sir Geo Chetwynd Bart 20 June 1831. Bookplate of George Chetwynd to the front pastedown. Small blindstamp of Grendon Hall to the title page. Pages spotted to the edges throughout. Offsetting from the bookplate to the front free end paper. Browning to the end papers from contact with the leather in the binding. Ink notes to the margins of the royal visits section giving folio references from the Leet Book. MS note to the foot of page 12 of the second section presumably quoting the Leet Book.
