Book Description

This Greek tale of two young lovers, probably written over 1,700 years ago by Longus, was set on his own island of Lesbos. It was first published into English in 1587 but the version that appears in this volume by the Irish novelist, George Moore, is often quoted as the best. As something of a literary curiosity it has retained its popularity over the years. The sensitive & sensual illustrations of MARCEL VERTES make this book an attractive collectors' item from The Folio Society's older bank of classical titles.
