Dealer Notes
Samuel Cresswell served as Second Lieutenant and ship’s artist aboard H.M.S. Investigator under Robert M’Clure during the search for Franklin’s lost Arctic expedition. Cresswell subsequently brought back to England news of the first crossing of the North West Passage. His iconic images, reproduced here from the scarce original edition of 1854, record scenes from the expedition.
