Book Description
First edition. Oblong elephant folio [45cm x 57cm], ff.[2], 38 leaves of plates. Illustrations by W. O. Williams after Giotto, engraved by Dalziel fratres. Prints dated 1854 - 1860. Each print carries the publisher's imprint of the Arundel Society. The title page states,"Accompanied by an explanatory notice by John Ruskin," which is not included here. Deep red half-calf with gold titles and decoration, top edge gilt. Ex-library copy. Spine rebound with original spine relaid. First two plates foxed, thereafter plates progressively have lighter foxing; corners bumped, worn and stained; bookplate to front pastedown "Henry Richard Laird."
