Nachtigal explored the areas of Bornu and Kordofan in Central Africa, starting in 1869. After no word was received from him, he was given up as lost, but in fact he travelled through the Sahel to reach Khartoum in later 1874. His account of these journeys appeared as Sahara und Sudan (1879-89), and he received the Founder’s Medal of the RGS in recognition of his explorations. Price not including VAT,
