Folio. Irregular pagination, as per ESTC, viz: [22], 112, 89-120, [4], 121-176 (lacks 177-180), 56, 53-96, 178, 115-236. Missing two leaves in total. Contemporary calf, early reback, edges speckled, spine worn, hinges weak. Condition: front fly-leaf not present, prelims worn and dusty: title page mounted (without loss of text); [A2-3] (epistle dedicatory/to the reader) remargined to fore- and bottom margin without loss of text, lower edge bumped affecting perhaps 3mm of lower margin of first half of book. After prelims, becomes less worn, though occasional foxing throughout particularly to first section (1-112), The Morning Watch and to margins. Early signature to rear, Given to Elliz: Hur by his Aunt Joan Brown , later signatures to title page, Thomas Brown, Owner, 1734/35 , Anne S Jacob 1844 . An early Quaker work: William Smith, the author was from Nottinghamshire, and imprisoned for his beliefs. These texts were put together by his widow, who writes a preface recalling his pleasant character. Please note condition. However, priced accordingly, and rather rare on the market. R26927
