Bradshaw’s Continental Railway Guide July 1908, published by Blacklock, London 1908. Bradshaw’s Continental Railway and Steam Transit, and General Guide for Travellers Through Europe. A 1156-page hardback in stiff red cloth-covered boards with title and coat of arms gold-stamped to front. Size 16.5 by 12 cm, and 6 cm thick. In addition to timetables the guide contains descriptions of each country, routes and fares, along with a large advertising section with details of shipping lines, hotels, etc. Includes folding maps of Switzerland and the Rhine but not the general map of Europe. Also contains a 146-page introduction with an index, a summary of the main routes to and through the continent and information for travellers. Some small nicks to head of spine and a closed split, a frayed edge to one of the early pages of advertising and the remains of an old tape repair to the front endpapers but otherwise in Good to VG condition. As seen used in the Michael Portillo TV documentaries!
