Published by Cassell and Co, London, 1893-1898, 1st edition. Six volumes bound as three (complete). Matching half leather binding with black cloth boards. Five raised bands to spine. Title in gilt on red leather patch to compartment two, vol no and alphabetical reference to compartment four. Gilt decoration to raised bands and top and tail of spine. Each 10.25ins x 7.5ins. Vols one & two (A - Frome): x, 480pp, viii, 472pp plus 20 maps (19 double page, 1 folding). Vols three and four (Frome-New): viii, 472pp, viii, 472pp plus 20 double page maps. Vols five & six (New-Zoze): viii, 472pp, xi, (i), 472pp plus 20 double page maps. In total there are 60 maps, 27 of England, 20 of Scotland, 8 of Ireland and 5 of the environs of major cities. Each volume contains numerous small illustrations. There is foxing to the endpapers, title page and final page of each volume, otherwise a VG complete set. Nb combined weight 8.5kg pre-packing, very expensive to post abroad.
