Published by Morgan and Scott, 1887. Hardcover. Bound in highly decorated red publishers cloth with gilt and black lettering and illustration on the front cover and spine. All edges gilt. Black endpapers. Heavily illustrated with black and white engravings along with musical scores, tables, and includes two full page maps in colour. Cloth a little faded but the gilt decorations still bright.

James Hudson Taylor (1832 to 1905) was a British Baptist Christian missionary to China and founder of the China Inland Mission. Taylor spent 51 years in China.
