Dealer Notes
Reprint. In Darwin’s Legacy, John Dupré, Professor of Science and Director of the ESRC Centre for Genomics in Society at the University of Exeter, ‘presents a lucid, witty introduction to evolution and what it means for our view of humanity, the natural world, and religion. [...] Darwin’s Legacy clears a path through the confusion and controversy surrounding evolution’ (wrapper blurb). Reviewing the work, John G. Fleagle found that Dupré’s ‘views are always succinct and largely uncompromising. The author does an excellent job of distinguishing evolution from its causal mechanisms (such as natural selection) and appropriately debunks the idea that evolution is “just a theory”’, but was not uncritical, noting that ‘[m]ost biologists will probably disagree with Dupré on many issues in this book’ (Quarterly Review of Biology 79 (2004), p. 304).

The first edition was published in 2003, followed by the paperback edition of 2005 and this reprint of 2006.
