‘De Fabrica Triremium Liber’ (Warships of the Ancient World). ~ by Marci Meibomii; pub Amsterdam (Christoffel Cunradus) 1671. Small 4to, 6 ¼” x 8”, rebound in dark brown leather with 5 raised band with 12 small lines & title all in gilt and new front & rear end papers. Original book starts at title page - frontispiece is missing; on verso of title page is a stamp from ‘Sion College Library - London’ noting about the sale of the book. Pagination - 16pps includes the title page + a gate fold map with a small tear on it showing 5 sections of oared vessels + 184pps; includes a few b&w diagrams; all pps are tight in binding, Mainly in Latin and also with other languages. The author was born in Denmark c1630, he was made Professor of History at the Athenaeum in Amsterdam in 1668. Covers a little rubbed with some slight bruising on the 4 corners; original pps have some marks from use over c350 years, also a little foxing mainly on first few front & back pps o/w in fairly good condition.
