English Blue & White Porcelain of the 18th Century
Book Description
Colour frontis. & 7 further colour plates; one of the 'Faber Monographs on Pottery & Porcelain'; Bernard Watney has brought up to date his standard work on English blue and white porcelain of the eighteen century for this second edition. Much research has been done and many discoveries have been made since the original edition came out in 1963, and Dr Watney's revisions have been systematic and comprehensive. In particular, a complete new section on the Newcastle-under-Lyme factory has been added in chapter 4, describing the spectacular and unexpected finds made there - among which was the earliest known dated price of blue and white porcelain. The date on it was 25th July 1746. New material has been illustrated and four extra colour plates have been added.
