Field notes on minerology excursions, one to Ireland, 1959, illustrated with drawings and photographs
Book Description
Seven notebooks, records of fieldtrips [mid twentieth century] belonging to M V Tomkeieff [Dept of Metallurgy, University College, Swansea, Wales] Comprising:
'Field Note Book, Northern Ireland Excursion from Cambridge March 1959 leader - Dr. Agrell' (Stuart Olof Agrell, 1913-1996] English minerologist, who worked on the Apollo Space Programme and Moon rocks] c. 56 pages in a careful, tidy hand, covering sites in Carlingford, Goraghwood Quarry, Cushendun, Ballintoy etc. Illustrated with original b/w photos [9], some with annotated tissue overlays, and many coloured pencil sketches. A delightful and informative notebook for the practitioner in the field of minerology and in vg, pleasing condition. With the notebook are six others, including another from the same field trip to Ireland, also with sketches, 'scrappier' than the well-presented first notebook, the other notebooks with observations from around the British Isles; Lake District, Scotland, Wales, etc and also including one titled 'Rock Collection by M V Tomkeieff'. Of these, they are either soft or hard small volumes, one or two with covers cracked / creased but generally good condition. Highly technical content.
