Large 8vo., xiv, 282pp., half-calf, spine with five raised bands, contrasting labels and gilt titles, lines and decorative panels over cloth covered boards; marbled endpapers, top edge gilt. 44 mainly sepia photographic plates including frontispiece, with tissue guards.
Dealer Notes
Some shelf-wear, rear corners bumped, shoulders and edges a little rubbed, small scratches on boards, occasional small crease in tissue guards, but otherwise bright handsome copy of this biographical account of the French eighteenth-century painter, most famous for his portraits of young women and village life.
