Spine with raised bands, each with wavy line gilt decoration. Compartments double ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Marbled paper on boards. Tan endpapers. A very good and attractive Victorian leather binding. Hunchback of Notre-Dame is book number 151 in the Parlour Library series, which Hodgson took over publishing from the Belfast firm of Simms and McIntyre (who started the series in 1847) in 1853.
