Plate 97 of ‘Eccentric Excursions, or Literary & Pictorial Sketches of Countenance, Character & Country in different parts of England & South Wales’, a narrative tour comprising humorous anecdotes from various towns, this scene depicting a travelling family resting at the roadside in woodland, a Staffordshire blue and white china teapot with cups and saucers on the ground, either on display for any passers-by or about to be used. The husband stands beside his donkey in the middle, resting on his staff with pipe in hand. His wife is seated on the ground beside him cuddling their young daughter, while their son sits dozing to one side with his hand resting on their dog’s head.
