'Jazz in New York in the Roaring Twenties' is a book by the illustrator Robert Nippoldt and author Hans-Jürgen Schaal , which was published in 2007 by Gerstenberg Verlag . In 2013 it was published by Taschen Verlag in English, French and Spanish translation. The book has received national and international prizes; The Illustrative voted it one of the most beautiful books in Europe in 2007 and the Book Art Foundation in 2008 as “Germany's most beautiful book”. In addition to the color-illustrated pages, the book contains a CD with original recordings from the 1920s. It’s the Roaring Twenties, and New York is exploding with jazz fever. Crowds flock to the nightclubs and dance halls in Harlem to see the likes of Louis Armstrong with the Fletcher Henderson Orchestra playing at the Kentucky Club, or Duke Ellington at the Roseland Ballroom or the world-famous Cotton Club.
