The author's first novel and extremely rare, unseen elsewhere currently.
Previously published in 1891 as "The Lass At The Man & Scythe", it was later revised in 1901 to the above title and is the author's first book. This is the first issue with the revised title.
Taking place in and around Bolton, it is a great historical novel of the area being based on lots of factual observations and events. Set during the Civil War, the story leads up to the Bolton Massacre of 1644.
The book has four illustrations by Fred Balshaw
The first photograph is full protected by an in-tact tissue.
In near fine condition, the binding is straight and tight, the boards clean apart from marks to the back board and the lettering on the front board and spine bright. There is slight wear to the top corner of the front board, shelf wear to the top and bottom edges of the spine and a small crease to the bottom corner of the back board. The toned end papers and pages are free from marks, tears and inscriptions.
Will be dispatch carefully wrapped in bubblewrap and a cardboard box.
