Book Description
I will be bringing many hard-to-find works by female authors to the Bath book fair including this, Kathleen Farrell's first book. She was an influential and multi-talented woman and went on to write five novels for Macmillan. She founded a literary agency and lived in Flask Walk with Kay Dick, 'the first woman director in British publishing.' The couple were very well-connected and Farrell was known for her encouragement for up-and-coming authors.
This copy is signed by the illustrator, George Imberger. He came to England with his wife from Germany and was interned until 1940.
Dealer Notes
Signed by the illustrator. Generally clean and bright with a few marks here and there and a tiny bit of rubbing to the extremities. Farrell's works seem to be excessively rare - there is just one other copy of this book in commerce and not a single copy of any of her five novels other than the Faber re-issue of 'Mistletoe Malice,' 2023.
