Lingual Exercises for Advanced Vocabularians
Book Description
1st Edition one of 99 copies only 22 x 14.5 cm brown cloth, grey endpapers 24pp with uncut edges, inscribed to C.E.T. with the author’s monogram. In very scarce publisher’s slip case.
A clean bright copy in the publisher’s original slipcase that has areas of significant loss and repairs to the top and bottom edges. C.E.T. was Cyril Edric Tomkinson. There is a note at the foot of the limitation page presumably from Tomkinson that reads, “Passion Week,/ April 2nd 1925/ Little St Mary’s Cambridge”. Tomkinson was the curate at Little St Mary’s at this time and a the University of Cambridge Archives contains a letter from him to Sassoon dated 3 April 1925 that states;
‘And now your beautiful book has come. Thank you so much. How well the Press has done it. And of course I like the contents. The first and the last poems at least transcend the humility of your text from the Psalms.’ [GBR/0012/MS Add.8889/3/277] A really lovely association copy.
