First Edition set, all first impressions. Housed in a bespoke leather solander box. The Fellowship of the Ring, 1954; The Two Towers, 1954; The Return of the King, 1955 with signature mark '4' and sagging text on page 49 and no space in “Men” on the last line of page 281 (Hammond former variant 1 revised to variant 3). All volumes are complete with their folded map to the recto of the rear free endpaper. Each book has a brief gift inscription dated in the year of publication. The correct first edition dust jackets have been price clipped but have had no restoration and, being a set that has been together since 1955, have aged evenly.
