Mani, Patrick Leigh Fermor, John Murray & The Book Society, December 1958, First Edition, First Impression Widely seen as Britain's greatest travel writer, this book covers his journey with his wife Joan and friend Xan Fielding around the Mani peninsula in southern Greece. This is a Book Society First Edition, First Impression. The book is illustrated throughout with photographs. Included with the book are a newspaper cutting about this book and a review by Patrick Leigh Fermor of Deep Into Mani: Journey to the southern tip of Greece by Peter Greenhalgh and Edward Eliopoulos published in the TLS of August 30 1985. There is a neat owners bookplate to the front end paper. In fine condition, the binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering on the spine bright. The end papers and pages are free from tears. There is foxing to the top and fore edges. The stunning unclipped dust jacket, protected in a clear, removable cover is in near fine condition with nibbling and slight loss tot he top and bottom edges of the spine, a darkened back cover and foxing to the returns. Will be dispatched carefully wrapped in bubblewrap and a cardboard box.
