Manuscript poetry friendship album with three accomplished flower water-colours, dated 1842.
Book Description
4to. Early Victorian friendship album, worn half calf on green paper boards. Presented to Elizabeth [?] Wood by her affectionate Brother William Wood, 1842 in a finely penned dedication. Partially filled with poetic tribute, often religious in tone, pencil drawing of the Wellington monument in Somerset, and three accomplished water-colours of flowers. The illustrations are all signed C H Barrett in a flourishing signature, and are astonishingly accomplished. A little thumbed to margins, but otherwise intact and clean (see photos). The poetry, alas, is not enthralling, but the pictures excellent.
