Author's dedication to Mr and Mrs Barry Appleby on title page. Barry Appleby (1909-1996) was a British cartooning who created and drew The Gambols for The Daily Express from 1950 till his death. His wife Dobs co-wrote The Gambols with Barry until her death in 1985.
