Published by William Mackenzie, London, nd (probably 1893 as list of racing results end at 1892 - see pps 394-400). Half leather binding with blue cloth boards. Five raised bands to spine. Gilt lettering to compartment two. Aem. 12ins x 10ins, marbled endpapers, [ii], 538pp, vii, (i), 96pp, vi (index) plus 20pp colour plates and 28pp black and white plates. Also other illustrations within the text. The 96 pages at the end of the book are entitled "The diseases and treatment of Cattle, Sheep and Pigs" and were written by James Irvine Lupton. Whilst the majority of the book is devoted to horses (up to page 401) there are also sections on Cattle and Sheep The Cattle section was written by John Walker and that on Sheep by by Charles Scott. Original spine has been relaid. Hinges strengthened with tape. Previous owners name and address to first blank page. A few grubby finger marks, but overall a VG copy. Nb book weighs nearly 3kg extra postage may be requested..
