Book Description
Hardback. 70 watercolours by Diana Sperling. Charming and funny these show family life in the Regency world that Jane Austen lived in and, full of fun and life, are far removed from formal portraits: they show her sister’s troubles riding her donkey, her mother ‘murdering flies’ and her brother learning to dance amongst many other domestic topics. Foreword by Elizabeth Longford. Landscape format. Colour illustrated throughout and the images are reproduced at the same size as the originals. This is the first publication of Diana Sperling’s work over 150 years after they were painted. First edition.
Beige boards with dark red titles to spine are very clean and neat. Dust jacket is very lightly rubbed to edges and is very slightly tanned to the edges and spine of the dust jacket.
