Red cloth, spine and upper board lettered in gilt, yap fore-edges. Fore-edge untrimmed, illustrated endpapers (on the same lover’s theme). Spine sunned, extremities pushed, rubbed and faded. Edges and endpapers foxed, POI in black pen to verso of ffep, else, clean, tight and bright, with Clemence Houseman’s engravings especially pleasing. An attractive edition.
Dealer Notes
The author, illustrator and suffragette Clemence Housman (1861-1955) collaborated with her second brother Laurence on a number of book projects, as well as co-founding the Suffrage Atelier.
