Book Description

Dark red morocco binding with double gilt geometric ruling to both boards and spine and gilt lettering to the spine. All edges gilt, vignette title page and red ruling to all pages. In very good condition with a couple of light marks to upper board, rubbing to corners and a little dryness to hinges and tips of the spine, otherwise clean and firm. Offsetting to endpapers, light spotting to free endpapers and age toning to pages as it would be expected to a binding of this age. Small loss to top corner of two pages as seen in photos but with all that said a lovely copy. 254pp. 'Quintus Curtius Rufus was a Roman historian, probably of the 1st century, author of his only known and only surviving work, Historiae Alexandri Magni, "Histories of Alexander the Great", or more fully Historiarum Alexandri Magni Macedonis Libri Qui Supersunt, "All the Books That Survive of the Histories of Alexander the Great of Macedon"'.
