Text German. This important botanical work is by the German botanist, ethnologist and African explorer Georg August Schweinfurth (1836 -1925). It describes and illustrates many new species of plants that the Austrian botanist and explorer Theodor Kotschy (1813 -1866) collected from 'free negroes' during his travels from 1837 to 1839 while he was companion to the Austrian geologist, Joseph Ritter von Russegger (1802-1863). Together they explored mountains south of Kordofan (a former province of central Sudan).
