Rex v Bertrand Russell, Report of the Proceedings before the Lord Mayor at the Mansion House Justice Room 5 June 1916
Book Description
Russell was strongly pacifist during the first world war and among other consequent punishments was dismissed from his lectureship at Trinity College following this conviction. He was fined £100 but refused to pay in the hope that he would be sent to prison. In the event his books were taken to pay the fine but subsequently bought by his friends and returned to him. He was in fact later convicted and sentenced to six months in Brixton Prison for publicly speaking to discourage the entry of the US into the war. Very scarce.
