SHEFFIELD 1903 Large Scale Ordnance Survey Town Plan SHEET CCLXXXWIII [283] of the Sheffield Union Workhouse
Book Description
Printed for the Borough of Sheffield by the Director General at a scale 1/500 being 10.56 feet to the mile and measuring 41 inches by 29. These were published for larger towns and cities from about 1850 onwards and were the largest scale plans published by the Ordnance Survey. Apart from important exceptions such as London, most were not published after 1900, but there was often more than one edition. This sheet [16.18 ] is taken up entirely with the workhouse on Barnsley Road beside Bagley Dike. [16.23 completes the workhouse] Some repairs to the outer margins not affecting text.
