Loosely inserted manuscript letter from the author to the publisher dated 8th June 1875 Ecclesfield.which begins " I have the Prince of Wales permission to present him with a copy of "Hallamshire" when he comes to Sheffield and I shall have a volume specialy bound for the purpose and It has occured to me whether you would think it worth your while (as an advertisement ) to have a large copy of Sheffield Past & Present nicely bound which I would offer at the same time for the Princes acceptance etc etc
Together with a Thomas Rodgers bill head with a rough pencil map of the Fir Vale area on the back and the question " Perhaps you can understand this - I can't. WTR.
