Book Description

Printed by J.B.Nichols & Sons, Westminster, 1877, 1st edition. Contemporary half leather binding with marbled boards. Gilt lettering to spine on a red background. 11.5ins x 9.5ins, [iv], 128pp plus 4pp plates ( one in colour), 3 folding family pedigree trees and other illustrations within text. This copy was formerly in the Worth Abbey library and bears a sticker to this effect on the front pastedown and two ink numbers ( one on the front free endpaper, one on the title page) - no other library markings. There is a bookplate of John Tolhurst on the front pastedown. Internally there is a little scattered light foxing but generally VG. Externally there are small marks to the spine where library labels have been removed . An attractive copy of a scarce work.
