First edition, small 4to (252 x 185 mm.); 18 colour plates by Jessie M. King with captioned tissue guards, browning to free endpapers, small stain slightly visible to upper edge of some plates and a few ff., staple mark to top edge of preliminary ff., otherwise internally very good, contemporary ownership inscription to front free endpaper; publisher’s green buckram with inlaid pictorial title-label, top edge gilt, slightly rubbed to extremities but overall a good copy.

One of the books produced during Jessie M. King’s time in Paris, The Book of Bridges is a charming study of the bridges over the river Seine, taking full advantage of the artist’s delicate touch with watercolour and wash.
