The Crucible
Book Description
The Crucible edited by Ramdas Crishna published by Abyhudaya Press Allahabad 1915. Volumes II and III. 483 pages. A monthly magazine or journal bound in book form. A series of essays and articles on subjects that include women’s suffrage, purdah, the war, war poetry, life in Madras, education, nature, philosophy, the city of Medina and politics. There is also a one act play entitled “The Female of the Species”. Crishna was the editor of the Crucible which termed itself A Social and Literary Review for Cosmopolitans, published from 1914 to 1915. The book contains two loose subscription forms for the journal. A fascinating survivor. The front board has a faded hand-written title in ink and the cloth spine is worn at the foot with a small section missing. This appears to be a fairly amateur binding. Fair to Good condition.
