Book Description

Nine volumes. 32mo. (12.2 x 8cm). Handsomely bound in contemporary full blue-green calf, the boards ruled in gilt; the spines with three raised bands, compartments richly decorated in gilt and with red morocco title labels lettered in gilt. Each volume with its own series title page with wood-engraved vignette illustration, and each play with its own title page with wood-engraved vignette illustration. The set contained within a modern black buckram-covered drop-front box, with titles in gilt to the lid and patterned paper interior. A very good set, volumes one and two neatly re-backed with the original spines re-laid (and incorporating new endpapers), rubbing to the boards, and a little wear to the extremities. The contents with cracking to the front hinge of volumes three, six and nine, a splash mark to the rear endpapers of volume seven, the odd minor crease, and some light scattered foxing are otherwise in good order.
