[4], 56pp. Title-page torn with loss of several letters and ruled border at the upper right hand corner. Stamp of Swindon Public Library of the verso of the title-page, and some old and not too intrusive water staining. New front-end-paper. Contemporary calf very neatly rebacked, ad the corners repaired. The board are rather rubbed. 4to. printed by Thomas Baskett. 1748. Near contemporary signature of Ro: Peterborough to the title-page and with manuscript amendment to page 5, and several other underlinings and marginal pencil strokes against passages. Could this possibly be Robert Lambe, Bishop of Peterborough 1764-1769? The correction to the text, amends Frederick Prince of Wales, to ‘our gracious Queen Charlotte, their Royal Highnesses George Prince of Wales. The Princess Dowager of Wales and all the Royal Family.’ Charlotte became Queen in 1761. ESTC N6857.
