Book Description

1st Edition 13.2 x 20.8 cm blue cloth backed grey paper boards with gilt stamped titles to the spine 106[6]pp with 8 black and white illustrations. In publisher’s original unclipped dust jacket priced at $2.75. Signed, inscribed and dated by Sarton on the half title page, to her cousin Evelyn, in the year before publication.Clean boards with a hint of toning and a little shelfwear along the bottom edge and a little pushing to the corners. Internally there is a little toning to the free endpapers where the jacket ends but otherwise the book is very clean and has only the author’s inscription on the half title. The dust jacket which is now protected in a removable, clear cover (not shown) has a little toning and dust marking to the rear and a little rubbing with some surface abrasion to the spine tips and corners with minimal loss to the spine tips, a tough of creasing to the top and bottom edges and a small 2mm mark on the front panel. All in all a very nice copy signed before publication from the collection of May’s cousin Evelyn Mann and after her daughter Janet.
