The Guns of Navarone, Alistair Maclean, Collins, 1957, First Edition, First Impression Adapted for film in 1961 and listed as number 89 on the 'Top 100 Crime Novels of All time" in 1990 by the British Crime Writers Association, this story, set in the Second World War, concerns the efforts of an Allied commando team to destroy a German Fortress in the Aegean Sea. The book is in near fine condition. The binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering on the spine bright. There is sunning to the top edge of the spine and shelf wear to the bottom edge of the spine. The end papers and pages are free from tears and inscriptions. There is a mark to the top edge and foxing to the fore and bottom edges. The unclipped dust jacket, protected in a clear removable cover is in very good+ condition with loss to the corners, a small tear to the bottom edge of the front cover, nibbling to the top edge of the spine, loss and nibbling to the bottom edge of the spine and marks to a darkened back cover. Will be dispatched carefully wrapped in bubblewrap and a cardboard box.
