Highly ambitious and splendid turn-of-the-century luxury Bible containing both Old and New Testaments, illustrated in full splendour by the most notable of international Pre-Raphaelite artists. Advertised as the 'The Most Sumptuous Family Bible Ever Published', reportedly the painting and ornamentation of the book alone cost the publishers £18,000 at the time. 'The total weight of both books is well over 20 kgs.

Binding somewhat rubbed at extemities, a few tissue guards chipped and worn; some leaves loosening; some marginal tears; family-register decorated by Crane unused, except for the first box (which is cut out). Over-all a fine copy of an impressive Bible.
