The publisher's original pictorial red morocco with gilt decorations by Sangorski & Sutcliffe. The top edge gilt, others are uncut. Housed in the original cloth slip-case. Loosely laid in is a two sided Publisher's Prospectus which is in Fine condition. An excellent example of this special edition, with the splendid illustrations by Belgian-born artist & graphic designer Mark Severin, famous for his miniaturised work, bookplates, erotic studies and graphic design work for companies including Imperial Airways and the London Underground. The Homeric Hymns were a series of poems written and performed to celebrate the Greek gods, written in the same epic meter as Homer's 'Iliad' & 'Odyssey'. A highlight from the Cockerel Press.
