EARLY EDITIONS. Two volumes. 8vo. (7.5 x 5.1 inches). Both volumes illustrated. The illustrations are by J. Lockwood. Kipling, W. H. Drake and P. Frenzeny in the Jungle Book and just by J. L. Kipling in the second book. Publishers original blue cloth bindings with gilt illustrations to front boards and spines, which are also lettered in gilt. All edges gilt. Both volumes have a gift inscription, dated August 1898, on front blank endpapers, which suggests that the second volume may have been issued earlier than the printed dated on the title page. Some light foxing to the first few pages, up to and including the title page, of the Jungle Book, otherwise clean and fresh throughout both volumes. Inner hinges of both books still firm and tight. Some minor rubbing to cloth edges but overall a very good set of these classic books, that look like they have either been read very carefully or never read at all.
