Published by Joseph Swan, Glasgow, 1834, 1st edition. Full leather binding. Five raised bands to spine. Gilt lettering "Swan's Lakes of Scotland" to compartment two. Gilt double ruled borders to other compartments. Triple gilt border (two thick, one thin) to front and rear boards. Elaborate gilt decoration with inset of watered silk to front and rear pastedowns. Aeg. Bound by Carls & Co, Glasgow. 17ins x 11ins (large paper copy), watered silk free endpapers, xii, (ii), 223pp, 12pp (list of subscribers) plus 52pp plates of which 4 are vignette illustrations. All plates present. To the centre of the front pastedown is a partial label which reads "From George Douglas Glasgow to William Imrie, esq, Liverpool 1843". Old tape repair to tear pps 97/98. Front watered silk endpapers a bit grubby. Front hinge beginning to crack but holding firm. Clean attractive plates, a VG copy. Nb heavy book, over 4kg, please check with seller for postage quote.
