The mine is about eighty miles north of San Francisco Bay. the author was the daughter of a man who was the Superintendent for nearly twenty-five years and has used family letters, diaries old newspapers, eye-witness accounts and memories of people involved in her history of the mine. It covers the time period of roughly 1875 to 1900.
