12mo., viii, 172pp. (last 4pp. misnumbered), followed by 24pp. advertisements, copper-engraved frontispiece depicting a lady handing a receipt book or similar to her maid, foxing and some toning, offsetting from frontispiece onto title, frontispiece and title neatly tipped onto later stub, with small closed tear stopping just short at lower edge of fronispiece plate-mark, but overall internally sound and in good order, handsomely bound in antique-style modern sprinkled calf, repeated gilt motif and gilt-lettered leather title-label to spine.

Dealer Notes
An attractive copy of an early, rare work on the confectioner’s craft. Opinions vary it seems on the date of publication but the address given for A. Hogg in the imprint would indicate some time between 1785 & 1804.
