Published by Editions Self, Paris, 1949, 1st edition. Normally found as a stiif covered paperback this copy has been rebound as a hardback with fawn coloured boards and a maroon cloth spine. "The Rug" lettered in gilt on the spine. The front portion of the original cover has been pasted down onto the front board. Small folio, 13ins x 9.75ins, double page map, half title and 297pp including 23 tipped-in colour plates and many b/w illustrations. Text in English and French. Introduced with ethnographical notes by Arnold van Gennep. An important and informative work on Persian/Turkish rugs. Some discolouration to the pasted down cover, contents VG.
